It’s a universal theme that anti-nuclear campaigners, having interfered in legislative and other official processes to the detriment of the technology, then avoid taking credit for the results. “Poisoning the well” is spot on and I’m unable to think of another scientifically-intensive subject where the problem would be so tolerated, although the subjects listed in the 14th paragraph start to come close.

In this specific case we are simply left to wonder “why?” since I wouldn’t expect an anti-nuclear campaigner to direct his followers to this article or his comment — he couldn’t be sure how many are now secretly doubtful of the ideology in light of the urgency of climate change, and could go on to read some of the authoritative links I’ve cited, which haven’t been cherry-picked and controlled.
